Early Life:

His love in music began when he was 11 years old. He was the son of Senegalese immigrants. Wes became interested in making music after becoming captivated by the beats of African drums.

As a young man, Wes dreamed of making a living as a professional basketball player. His decision to play basketball seriously at age 13 is what he says allowed him to become more forgiving in other areas of his life and in his songs.

At the age of sixteen, he joined with a modeling agency in New York and did his first show the following day, putting his hoop dreams on hold.

A less-than-privileged childhood helped mold him into the accomplished creator he is now, he says.

He had a hard time as a kid in Harlem. He says he had to steal to get by and that he frequently did not attend classes.

When his mother became upset with him, she would sometimes send him to Africa as punishment.

Career:

He had a brief career, but he was able to sign a joint contract with Kanye West and Travis Scott because he prioritized quality above quantity.

Sheck Wes describes himself as a “mudboy” who can do it all. He’s multitalented, with skills beyond rapping including hooping, fashion design, and modeling.

A “mudboy” is the epitome of “rags to riches,” a word he coined. He released songs online all through high school.

A few of his best songs came out between 2017 and 2018. His most successful single to date, “Mo Bamba,” was published in June 2017 and has already racked up over 49 million views on YouTube.

This song, which was a relative unknown at first, became a sensation in 2018. A fellow Orlando Magic player and childhood buddy, Mo Bamba, inspired the song’s title. The song would go on to be the first single from his self-titled first album.

The 14-track album, which dropped in October 2018, includes the singles “Chippi Chippi” and “Live SheckWes Die SheckWes.” Both have had millions of plays on various media outlets, which has boosted the album’s sales.

Sheck Wes has worked with popular artists like Lil Yachty, Drake, and Juice WRLD. His new track is titled “Wanted.”

Skill

Sheck Wes is not just an accomplished musician, but also a style icon. He gave up basketball in favor of fashion shows all through high school. He was also advised to pursue a career in modeling because of his towering height. His father had formal training in sewing, while his cousin instructed him in fashion design.

Family Life: Early

There’s not enough information available on the internet about his family. Little do we know is, in an accident caused the fire that destroyed his family’s home. Because of this, they had to move his family into a homeless shelter.

Soon after, Sheck and his family were able to move to a new home. Their second home also burned down, so they are now occupants of a public housing complex.

His family struggled to make ends meet, but they worked hard. More than that, they had a moral obligation to help their families and friends in Africa by sending financial support there.

Sheck spent a lot of time alone because his parents had hectic schedules. Therefore, he had to ensure his own safety.

Family Life: Parents

His parents quickly saw the potential dangers of raising Sheck in their Harlem neighborhood. Sheck and his mom relocated to Milwaukee, Wisconsin, when he was five years old.

Meanwhile, back in New York, his father kept up his relentless work schedule. Every summer, Sheck traveled to New York City to see his father.

He stated in one of his interviews that his time spent in Milwaukee was unpleasant. When questioned about the differences between Milwaukee and New York City, he favored the latter because it allowed him more independence.

He first became interested in rap when he was nine years old. After returning to the Big Apple, he and several friends started a rap trio called Mill Yorkers. So, he started attending “Norman Thomas High School” in New York City.

Achievements

His follow-up album was revealed shortly after the success of his debut. In 2019, Wes participated in his first full-length record with a group of other musicians for the first time, an effort titled JackBoys.

The album landed at number one on both the US Billboard 200 and the Canadian album charts. As of the year 2020, he has been actively engaged in a professional basketball career. In spite of his efforts, the NBA did not select him. While he didn’t start playing until much later, he just recently played in his first Paris Basketball match.

Overview

In recent years, Sheck Wes has become a widely recognized figure in the entertainment industry. Even though he only started his career in 2017, he has quickly risen to become one of the most brilliant rappers of all time. Sheck has a massive fan base.
