3. Ozzie Nelson Career
In 1934, Ozzie Nelson got his big break when he was signed to RCA Victor Records. His first hit was “And Then Some,” which was followed by a string of other popular songs. He also began appearing in films, including the musical comedy “The Big Broadcast of 1938.” In 1940, he and his wife Harriet Hilliard began appearing on their own radio show called “The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet.” The show ran for 14 years and made them household names.
In 1952, the couple moved to television with the same premise as their radio show. The show was a huge success and ran for 14 seasons until 1966. During this time, Ozzie also served as the producer and director of the series. He also wrote several episodes and composed some of the music used in the series.
After The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet ended, Ozzie continued to work in television as an executive producer for shows such as “Adam-12” and “Emergency!” He also wrote two books about his life in show business: “Ozzie’s World” (1971) and “The Adventures of Ozzie & Harriet” (1972).
