At the age of 16 he formed a band called 4-Letter Lie which toured extensively throughout the Midwest region of the United States before disbanding in 2008 after releasing two albums. After 4-Letter Lie disbanded Mod Sun moved to Los Angeles to pursue a solo career under the name Moderately Successful.
