Los Bukis was formed in 1977 by singer-songwriter Marco Antonio Solís and guitarist Joel López in Michoacán, Mexico. They were later joined by bassist César López and drummer José Angel “Chele” Loza. The group released their debut album “Aquí Estoy Yo” in 1979, which featured their first hit single “Mi Fantasía”.

The band went on to release several other albums throughout the 1980s, including the chart-topping “Libre y Soltero” (1982), “Viviré Por Siempre” (1984), and “Por Amor a Mi Pueblo” (1986). They also had several successful singles such as “No Me Amenaces” and “Tú Me Vuelves Loco”.

In 1988, Los Bukis signed with Fonovisa Records and released their first album for the label entitled “Canciones de Amor y Desamor”. This album featured some of the band’s biggest hits such as “Tu Carcel” (1989), “Me Volví a Acordar de Ti” (1991), and “Si No Te Hubieras Ido” (1995).

Los Bukis continued to record music until 1998 when they disbanded due to personal differences between members of the group. Since then, members of the band have gone on to pursue solo careers while still performing together occasionally under the name Los Bukis Reunion Tour.
